Web Wows and Whines!

A web, crawling with millions of spiders, is growing across several acres of Lake Tawakoni State Park, 50 miles east of Dallas.

The web wows scientists as it whines with the sound of countless mosquitoes and flies trapped in its folds, while emitting a fetid dead insect odor. Sheets of web are thick enough in places to block out the sun.

The spiders are “spreading out for sure,” overtaking the lakefront peninsula! Just across the lake, at Wind Point Recreational Park, are the beginnings of another giant web. Researchers say that having two large webs is super rare!
